About PremiMatch
PremiMatch is a free, independent comparator of Swiss basic health insurance (KVG/LAMal) premiums, built to be understood by everyone, older people included: six simple questions, the official premiums of every insurer, the deductible that costs the least, in nine languages (German, French, Italian, Romansh, English, Albanian, Portuguese, Spanish, Croatian / Serbian / Bosnian).
Official 2027 FOPH premiums, published on . Page updated on .
Where the data comes from
- 2027 premiums: the open dataset of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) on opendata.swiss, that is every approved premium, for each insurer, canton, region, age group, model and deductible. These are exactly the data of the official calculator priminfo.admin.ch. Dataset of .
- 2026 premiums: the FOPH archive, to show how each offer has changed.
- Premium regions: the annex of the FDHA ordinance on premium regions (list of municipalities per region), published by the FOPH.
- Postcodes and localities: the official directory of localities from swisstopo.
An automatic program checks these sources every week and updates the site. Last update: . FOPH data are published under a free-use licence with attribution.
How we calculate
- Your offers: from your postcode, PremiMatch finds your municipality and its premium region, then keeps the offers of your age group (0–18, 19–25, 26 and over), with or without accident cover, and the models you accept (standard only, or also family doctor, HMO, telemedicine and combined).
- The recommended deductible: for each deductible we calculate the total cost of a year = premium × 12 + the share of costs you pay yourself. That share is the lesser of your costs and the deductible, plus 10 % of the rest (the co-payment), capped at CHF 700 a year (CHF 350 for a child). Expected medical costs depend on your answer: "Rarely" CHF 300 a year, "Sometimes" CHF 1,500, "Often" CHF 6,000 (children: 100, 600 and 2,500). The recommended deductible is the one with the lowest total cost for the cheapest offer.
- The ranking: offers are sorted by monthly premium at the chosen deductible. The saving shown compares your current insurer's standard-model premium, at the same deductible, with the cheapest offer, over 12 months.
- The deadline: the cancellation must reach the insurer on the last working day of November (30 November 2026 for a switch on 1 January 2027).
What PremiMatch does not do
- It does not compare supplementary insurance (VVG/LCA) and does not calculate premium subsidies, which depend on the canton and on income.
- For children it shows the first child's rate; the discounts for the second and further children, specific to each insurer, are not shown.
- It does not cover the premiums of people living in the EU/EFTA.
- It does not replace the insurer's written offer: always check the premium on priminfo.admin.ch or with the insurer before switching.
Independence and privacy
- PremiMatch receives no payment from health insurers for the ranking of offers. Offers are sorted by price only.
- No sign-up, no name, phone number or email. Your answers stay in your browser (local storage) so you can find your results again; nothing is sent to a server. No tracking cookies.
- The site is a set of static files served by a content delivery network; the calculation runs on your device.
- PremiMatch is not a Swiss government website. The official calculator is priminfo.admin.ch.

The project
PremiMatch is an independent project, born from the observation that hundreds of thousands of people pay too much for basic insurance because they do not compare, and that existing comparators are often complex, full of advertising or built to collect phone numbers. The site is designed mobile first, in large type, one question per screen, and keeps to a strict performance budget so that it works on an old phone with a poor connection.
