# Switch insurer in 5 steps

**60 days left to switch insurer** Your letter must *arrive* by 30 November 2026.

1. **Ask the new insurer for an offer.** On its website or by phone. It cannot turn you down for basic insurance, whatever your age or health.
2. **Send your cancellation letter to your current insurer.** By registered mail. It must *arrive* by 30 November 2026. Use the template below.
3. **Don't cancel your supplementary insurance** (dental, private hospital room…) before you have been accepted elsewhere. You can keep it with your current insurer.
4. **Wait for the new insurer's confirmation.** Your old insurer keeps you until the new one has confirmed. You are never without insurance.
5. **Pay your last bills.** If you have unpaid premiums with a reminder, the old insurer can block the switch.
